African Women

By Betty Selolo (LPM)

We are the women, we are the Fighters, we are the mothers of

The nation. We are ‘unbold’ but

Beautiful. We are decision- makers

And proudly strong-minded.

Oh let us warn you

We are warm-hearted but cruel.

Our voice is our weapon.

We are women of today, we are

Organised, democratic, united And civilised. A person once said

“Wa thintha mfahzi wathintha E mbogoto.” The symbol of stone

Symbolises strongness and toughness

And resistance of women.

But let us tell you, Stone lives outside on sun, winds,

Rainfall but cannot speak out

The pain it feels. Women, democracy is our mouth to

Shout, and shout until our voice Is heard.

We say enough is enough Against neoliberalism, joblessness privatisation.

We say why, why are you so Cruel. Why you kill our children

In the name of freedom?

Why?

Why you privatise our freedom In the name of democracy? Why

You take bread from us? Why you let AIDS finish our Nation and our future, why? Why you do this to us?

When the sun rises it turns to gold and

Gives us a promise in our life. When it goes down it turns Reddish and makes us cry cause

Our promise seems to vanish In front of our eyes.

Do not lie and don’t front our names to

Survive in the name of partnership.

You capitalism you created A time and situation to fight Ourselves to turn us apart. You capitalism you want to Turn our freedom into beggars.

Democracy into demo of cruelty.

You only, only you turn our Governments into your agencies.

Business seekers. Why, where is your heart? We wouldn’t turn our heads Back to the land of slavery

No, we will never go back again.

Women of Africa

Enough is enough
